How to Transfer from Subway Yakuin Station to Nishitetsu Yakuin Station: Step-by-Step Guide with Photos (for Dazaifu Access)

One of the most convenient ways to reach Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine from Hakata is by taking the subway and then transferring to the Nishitetsu train.
But… are you feeling a little nervous about changing from Subway Yakuin Station to Nishitetsu Yakuin Station?

Don’t worry!
In this guide, I’ll show you the exact walking route with photos I took myself.
With this step-by-step guide, even first-time visitors can transfer smoothly and with confidence!

①Start from the Subway Yakuin Station Ticket Gate! Head to Exit East 1 after you go out.

After getting off the train, take the escalator up to the ground level.
We’ll start from the ticket gate of the Subway Nanakuma Line.
Follow the signs toward Exit 1 to reach the surface.

There are clear signs showing the way to transfer to the Nishitetsu Tenjin-Ōmuta Line, so it’s easy to follow.

Take the escalator or the elevator up to the ground level—whichever you like! 🌸

Taking the elevator? Get off on the 2nd floor, and you can skip step ② and go ahead!

②When you come out to the ground, just go to the platform on your right!

When you come out to the ground floor by elevator, you’ll see a bus stop on the left and, just like in the photo, stairs and an escalator on the right.
Take the stairs or escalator up to the 2nd floor where the ticket gates are waiting for you! ✨

③ You can now see Nishitetsu Yakuin Station!

When you arrive on the 2nd floor, you’ll see the ticket gates of Nishitetsu Yakuin Station right in front of you.
If you used the elevator, the gates will be on your right.

This is the entrance to Nishitetsu Yakuin Station! ✨

Buy your ticket (or tap your IC card), go through the gates, and head to Platform No. 1 on the right. That’s where you’ll catch the train to Nishitetsu Futsukaichi Station.

You’ve safely arrived at the platform! 🎉
To get to Nishitetsu Futsukaichi Station, it’s faster to take an express or rapid train.
The fare is the same as the local train, so it’s a great deal! 🚋✨

Travel Time & Tips

・This route takes about 3–5 minutes on foot.
If you’re used to it, it can be done in around 3 minutes, but for first-time visitors, allow about 5–8 minutes just to be safe!

・From the subway ticket gate to the exit, you’ll find signs for the Nishitetsu train platforms, so just follow them as you go. It’s easy!
