Every autumn, Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine hosts its annual Chrysanthemum Festival.
In 2025, it will take place from November 1 (Sat) to November 25 (Tue).

Sugawara no Michizane, the deity enshrined at Dazaifu Tenmangu, is widely known for his love of plum blossoms.
However, he was also deeply fond of chrysanthemums—writing even more poems about them than about plums.
In honor of this connection, members of the Shuhokai, a chrysanthemum enthusiasts’ group, display flowers lovingly cultivated across Kyushu.
